I am thriving in my current role and I owe it in big part to Jenny. She first exposed me to this role through inviting me to volunteer at a local university. She believed in my ability to be a public speaker and encouraged me out of my comfort zone to co-lead a presentation. It was during that visit that I recognized my love for campus outreach and public speaking.
Years later when a role opened up on that team, Jenny highly recommended that I apply for it even though I was doubtful of my abilities and hesitant I would be a good fit. Jenny was the ultimate hype woman and pumped me up during the application process. When I received the offer I was shocked, but Jenny wasn’t and was confident I was the best person for the role all along. Jenny believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself.

Jenny and I first started working together in 2015 on adjacent sales teams. I was on day 2 when she approached me and we became fast friends and colleagues. It was clear after a few conversations that she always wanted to give more of herself for the greater good.
I was involved in employee resource groups at previous companies but never held a board position or larger role (that was out of my comfort zone). Through Jenny’s coaching, I applied for my first board position in our employer’s women’s group and served with her on the board for 2 years!
This was the opportunity of a lifetime for many reasons: 1) I was able to serve something larger than me that I felt very passionate about 2) Jenny knew the opportunities that would come from being engaged with leaders and executives at our organization and urged me to take the plunge - which ultimately led me to my current amazing role at Apple and 3) My work became better than ever because I was more comfortable speaking in front of larger audiences and felt connected to people from several different backgrounds.
I’m lucky to call Jenny a friend but even luckier that she pushed me to be better for myself!
